Obituary

George Charles Silfee, age 70, of Eddy Mountain in Laceyville, PA passed away peacefully Sunday evening, June 14, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

George was born in Scranton, PA, on May 27, 1946 the son of the late Willard Charles and Dorothy Wesley Silfee. He was a graduate of the Elk Lake High School with the class of 1963. After graduating high school George enlisted with the US Army and served his country proudly in the Vietnam War. After returning home from the war George worked for Harmony Hill Farms in South Auburn, PA. He also worked for Kelly Services at Proctor and Gamble, Whipple Lumber Yard in Laceyville, and Kane's Warehousing in Tunkhannock until his retirement in 2007. George had a passion of playing the lottery and spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his nieces and nephews.

Surviving George are his siblings, his sister, Delilah VanHouten and her son Richard of Laceyville, PA, with whom he lived; sister, Judy Silfee Strohl and her husband Wes of Tunkhannock, PA; brother, Gary Silfee of Tunkhannock, PA; sister, Cathy Silfee Cox and her husband Earl of North Carolina; brother, Robert Silfee of Mildred, PA; sister, Betty Silfee Sickler and her husband Harry of Beaumont, PA; and several special nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Besides his parents George is preceded in death by his brother Richard Silfee (2007); sister Wanda D'Adamo (2013); and infant sister Lynette Silfee (1960).

Funeral services for George will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 1:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville, PA with the Reverend Jon Buxton of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at the Lacey Street Cemetery in Laceyville, PA following the service. Graveside Military services will be conducted by the Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion of Laceyville, PA, Dennis Strong Post #457 American Legion of Tunkhannock, PA and Endless Mountains Post #3583 V.F.W. of Mehoopany, PA. Family and friends may call on Thursday, at the funeral home from 12:00 (noon) until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice in George's name.
