George F. Wilmarth Sr., age 88, of Laceyville, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday morning, August 10, 2017.
George was born on April 21, 1929, in Factoryville, PA, the son of the late Francis and Edith Johnson Wilmarth. He graduated from Tunkhannock High School with the Class of 1947, while George was in school he played football for Tunkhannock High School. On September 11, 1948, he married the former Hazel Louise Webber and the couple was married for 68 years until her passing on October 31, 2016.
George was the manager of the Aldovin Dairy for numerous years. He also worked for Grover Milk Plant and the South Montrose Feed Mill. In his younger years, George loved to bowl at various bowling alleys in the area. He attended the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church. He loved his family very much and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
George his survived by his children Donna Gleason (Herbert) of Laceyville, PA; George Wilmarth Jr. (Sharon) of Laceyville, PA; Susan Hoeffner (Reverend Doug) of Old Forge, PA; Dale Wilmarth (Judy) of Springville, PA; Karen Herron of Laceyville, PA; and Duane Wilmarth (Connie) of Laceyville, PA. He is also survived his 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister Mary LaFrance of Fabius, NY; and as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his wife, George was preceded in death by his sister Anna Mae Anderson.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM at the Biblical Baptist Church in Meshoppen, PA with Reverend Doug Hoeffner officiating. A private family graveside service will be held at Rural Rest Cemetery in Keiserville, PA at a later date in accordance with the family.
