Masi
December 2, 1942 – June 7, 2020
Gerald "Butch" Masi, of Laceyville, PA, passed away on Sunday evening, June 7, 2020 at Geisinger East in Wilkes-Barre, PA.
He was born on December 2, 1942 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of the late Generino Masi and Doris Whipple Masi. Growing up in the Wilkes-Barre Heights area, he attended GAR and graduated in 1961. Immediately after graduation, Gerald joined the Marine Corps and served his country during the Vietnam War. Butch was employed for many years as a professional truck driver for Over the Road Interstate Dress Carriers and would later retire from Consolidated Cigar.
Butch was a member of the Rought Hall Post #510 American Legion. While driving truck he was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 401. For over 15 years, Butch owned and operated Riverside Bait and Tackle in The Old Mill in Laceyville, PA. On September 18, 1993, he married Rose M. Stankowsky
Gerald loved being in the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing in the Susquehanna River, local ponds and rivers, as well as taking trips to Oswego to fish for Salmon and loved visiting and camping on Oneida Lake in New York State. Gerald spent many hours in the woods pursuing deer, turkey, and small game. It has been said of Butch that "When he was outside, he was happy". When he wasn't outdoors, he loved being surrounded by his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Rose M. Stankowsky Masi of Laceyville, PA; children, Raymond Masi of East Stroudsburg, PA, Suzzette Geissler (Keith) of Texas, and Paul Masi of Wilkes Barre, PA, Joseph Kurzini (Kathy) of Laceyville, PA and Vincent Kurzini of Spotswood, NJ; grandchildren, Lorianne Masi, Myanne Masi, David Masi, Vincent James Kurzini and Alex Kurzini; brother, Joseph Masi of Wilkes-Barre, PA; sister, Antonette Lewis of Dorrance, PA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gerald was preceded in death by his brother, David Masi; sister, Marlen Masi; and his best friend, Frank Tonart.
As per his wishes, there will be no services held for Gerald at this time. Military Services will be conducted at a later date by the members of the Rought Hall Post # 510 American Legion.
