Obituary

Gwendolyn McMicken, 72, of Wyalusing, PA, was called Home to the Lord to be reunited with her husband, Arlo and son, Joel on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. She was residing at the Valley View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Montoursville, PA

Born October 22, 1953, in Meshoppen, PA, Gwendolyn was the daughter of the late Donald Lee Hoffman (d. January 15, 2009) and Patricia (Welles) Hoffman (d. September 28, 2018). She was a graduate of the Wyalusing Valley High School Class with the class of 1971.

Gwendolyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She worked as a cook at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home and also lovingly cared for her grandmother, Julia Welles. She was a member of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church and especially treasured the time she spent with her granddaughter, Kendalynn.

Gwendolyn married Arlo Willard McMicken on December 31, 1976. They shared many years together until his passing on March 20, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her son, Joel Clayton McMicken, who passed away May 19, 2014, as well as her parents.

She is survived by her beloved granddaughter, Kendalyn McMicken; her step-children and many step-grandchildren; her siblings, Gary Hoffman and his wife, Pam, of Asylum Township, and Gretchen McClure and her husband, Pete, of Columbia Cross Roads, along with many nieces and nephews.

Gwendolyn’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Valley View Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. The compassionate care, kindness, and support offered during her time there will always be remembered and appreciated.

A private graveside service will be held at Wyalusing Borough Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meshoppen Cat Rescue, 9883 State Route 6, Meshoppen, PA 18630.
