Helen Carpenter, age 93, of Hop Bottom passed away on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Allied Services in Scranton, PA.

She was born on August 30, 1927 in Trucksville, PA, the daughter of the late Monty Marbaker and Mary Parys.

Helen graduated from Rush High School with the class of 1945.  She would go on to work as a housekeeper at Tyler Memorial Hospital for 32 years.  On July 20, 1964, she married her husband, the late Clifford Carpenter (d. October 2, 2003).

She was a member of several clubs and organizations including the Silvara Ladies Aide, the Silvara United Methodist Church, the Ernestine Rebekah Lodge #548 in Rush, and also served as a Girl Scout Leader.  Helen also enjoyed dancing, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and watching games shows with her family and friends.  She loved her cats and cherished the time spent bowling in leagues with her husband.

Helen is survived by her children, MaryAnn Oldroyd (Sonny) of Winder, GA, Cynthia Somers (Doug) of Hop Bottom, PA, Kathy Miller (William Button) of East Lemon, PA, and Floyd Millard of New Mexico.  She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Other than her husband and parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Millard; daughter, Gaylene Millard; and brother, Albert Marbaker.

A funeral service for Helen will be held on Friday, February 26 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA and officiated by Lay Minister Vickie Ellis of the Beaver Meadows Church.  Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Interment will take place at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Elmira, NY at a later date.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, masks will be required to be worn inside of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Helen's name to the Meshoppen Cat Rescue at 9883 S. Route 6, Meshoppen, PA 18630.
