Obituary
Helen Lorraine Valentine, age 79, of Laceyville, PA, (North Flat), passed away early Saturday morning, June 3, 2017 at Temple University Hospital, in Philadelphia, PA, where she was transferred early in the week.
Helen was born in Windham twp., Wyoming Co., PA, on February 14, 1938 the daughter of the late Orrin and Evelyn Furman Phinney Sr. Growing up in Windham twp., Helen graduated from the Wyalusing Valley High School with the class of 1956. On October 5, 1959, Helen married Roger Valentine, and together they lived in Laceyville, all of their lives.
Helen and Roger, owned and operated Valentine TV, in Laceyville, for many years. In her spare time, Helen loved to cook and was a very special Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Helen was extremely active in the Braintrim Baptist Church; she cherished her time in the church nursery for over 30 years, and was a faithful volunteer with the Awana Club.
Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Roger Valentine of North Flat, PA; her seven sisters; Geraldine Fassett, of Tunkhannock, PA; Grace Ann Iffert, of Tunkhannock, PA; Joyce Place, of Kendallville, IN; Janice (DuBois) Selbig, of Dallas, GA; Donna Latini, of Spring Hill, PA; Betty Charland, of Laceyville, PA; and Lois Phinney, of Mehoopany, PA, and her two brothers, Fred Phinney, and William (Lynda) Phinney, all of Laceyville, PA and brother in law, Ken (Mary) Valentine, of Forkston, PA and besides her beloved nieces and nephews, she is also survived by many cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death her brother Orrin Emery (Sonny) Phinney Jr; Sister in laws, Yvonne Phinney and Patricia Phinney; and brother in laws, Joe Fassett; Paul Iffert; David Place; and Ernest Latini.
Private services will be held at the convenience of her family. Interment will be in the Vaughn Cemetery, in Mehoopany, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Braintrim Baptist Church, PO Box 231, Laceyville, PA 18623.
