Mrs. Hettie L. Goodwin Tinna, age 87, formally of Hollenback, PA, passed away at the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Memorial Hospital, in Towanda, PA on Tuesday afternoon, April 19, 2016.
Mrs. Tinna was born in Luzerne County, PA. on July 14, 1928, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Gladys A. Taylor Goodwin, and the step-daughter of the late Leslie Harris. Growing up in the Jenningsville, Hettie attended the Jenningsville Grade School, and later the Laceyville High School. She was the wife of the late Harold "Bim" Robert Tinna Sr., whom she married on December 31, 1947. Hettie and Bim were married for 49 years, before his passing on December 19, 1996, just 12 days shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Hettie enjoyed being surrounded by her large family, with her life being evolved around all of her children's, grandchildren, and great grandchildren activities. She was a long time member of the Hollenback United Methodist Church, along with being a member of the United Methodist Women. Hettie was also was a member of the Bradford County Senior Citizens. She loved taking short trips and eating out. She took great pleasure in traveling with her close friends Harriet Girven, Helen Burke, Marion Line, and Marie Jenner. Hettie also enjoyed doing plastic canvas, with Bim.
Surviving are her children, Mike (Connie) Goodwin, of Jenningsville, PA; Yvonne Boice (John Borawski), of Tunkhannock, PA; Shirley (Phillip) Goodwin, of Jenningsville, PA; Harold (Gail) Tinna Jr., of Fresno, CA; Jim Tinna, of Mehoopany, PA; Wendy (Lynn) Bloom, of Sugar Run, PA; Connie (Randy) Benscoter, of Laceyville, PA; Kenneth (Wendy) Tinna, of Sugar Run, PA; Luann (Carl) Gowin, of Laceyville, PA; Carol (Ray) Bates, of Wyalusing, PA; 34 Grandchildren; 44 G-Grandchildren, and 3 G-G-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jesse "Jake" (Millie) Goodwin, of Laceyville, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Hettie was preceded in death by her daughters Penny Sue Tinna, on November 26, 1990; and Marsha Ann Henning, on May 3, 2015; her granddaughters, Denise Tinna on October 6, 1978; Nicole Boice, on April 25, 2010; and her sisters, Gertrude Penny; Margaret Honeywell; and Helen Newhart.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA, with Rev. Heather Baker- McAllister of the Hollenback United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Lacey St. Cemetery in Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
