Hildegard
Buckley
Jun 24, 1948 — Sep 29, 2026
East Rush, PA
Hildegard Buckley, 78, of East Rush, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2026, at Tunkhannock Rehabilitation in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania.
Hilde was born on June 24, 1948, in Eitzweiler, Germany, to the late Jakob and Maria Immesberger. In 1980, she moved from Germany to East Rush, Pennsylvania, where she made her home and remained for the rest of her life.
On September 6, 1976, Hildegard married the love of her life, Varley H. Buckley, at the Lutheran Church in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage, building a life centered around their family, their home, and the many memories they created together.
Hilde was a hardworking and talented woman. She worked as a seamstress for many years before later working for Staff Management until her retirement. She took great pride in everything she did, whether it was her work, her home, or caring for the people she loved.
Hilde had a special talent for creating a beautiful and welcoming home. She loved building stone walls on the property and took great pride in keeping her home immaculate. Everything had its place, and she had a way of making her home feel special to everyone who walked through the door.
But perhaps what Hilde loved most was having her family around her. She adored her grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to have her family together. Family dinners and holidays were especially important to her, and her home was often filled with family, laughter, food, and memories.
Hilde was an exceptional cook, and her family will remember her meals for years to come. She cooked like a professional German chef every day. Sitting down at her dinner table often felt like going to a gourmet restaurant, except that the meal was made with love and shared with the people she cared about most.
Hilde is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Varley H. Buckley; her son, Sascha Werle and his wife, Valerie; her daughter, Alexandra Heinrich and her husband, Michael; her grandchildren, Jakob Werle, Benjamin Werle, Jeffrey Werle, Justin Sutherland, and Jessica (Daniel) Johnson and her great-grandchild, Brooklyn Johnson.
She is also survived by her brother, Marcus Immesberger, and her sisters, Monica Seibert and Annette Jammas, along with their families and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish her memory.
Hilde was preceded in death by her parents, Jakob and Maria Immesberger.
For her family, Hilde was so much more than a mother, grandmother, wife, and sister. She was the heart of the home. Her house was where the family gathered, where holidays were celebrated, and where everyone could sit around the dinner table and enjoy one of her incredible meals. She found happiness in having the people she loved close to her.
As her son, I will miss so many things about my mom-the sound of her voice, her cooking, the way she kept everything in its place, and simply knowing that she was there. I will miss walking into her home and knowing that I was home. Most of all, I will miss having my mom in this world. There will never be another person who can take her place.
Mom, thank you for the life you gave us, the memories you created, the meals you shared, and most of all, the love you gave to your family. You will always be a part of us, and you will never be forgotten.
