Mrs. Iona M. Saylor Sheehan, passed away early Easter morning, April 17, 2022, at the Bradford County Manor, where she has resided for the last year. Iona was a lifelong resident of Laceyville, PA, until ill health required her to relocate to the Towanda Personal Care Home, and later to the Bradford County Manor.

She was born in Meshoppen, PA on March 13, 1928, the daughter of the late Welles and Evelyn Jayne Saylor. Growing up in Laceyville, she was a graduate of the Laceyville High School with the class of 1936. Early in her working career she was a beautician, and later worked for many retail stores in Laceyville and Tunkhannock.

Iona was the wife of the late James "Herb" G. Sheehan, who passed away on February 29, 2012.  Throughout her life she enjoyed attending the Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville, PA. She also loved attending her sons ball games and in the recent years her grandchildren's events. She loved being with and surrounded by her family especially her grandchildren. Iona was a very pleasant woman, that loved to be involved with her family and church.

Surviving are her sons and their wives, Lanny and Susan Sheehan, of Bloomsburg, PA, and Kevin and Gwen Sheehan, of Towanda, PA, she is also survived by her five grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Iona is also survived by her sister, Sally Lacey of Lakeland, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant granddaughter, Meghan Sheehan, and her sister, Helen Ridgeway.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 12:00 Noon, from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA, with Rev. Richard Vieldhouse officiating. Interment will be in the Lacey St. Cemetery, in Laceyville, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
