Obituary
Iva Irene Seymour Champluvier, age 97, passed away peacefully Thursday evening July 31, 2014, at the Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA. She was born July 6, 1917 in Terry Township to Leo B. and Erma Grippin (Fitch) Seymour.
In 1934 she married Raymond Champluvier of the Laceyville area. Together they built a new home on Heller Hill Road. She lived there after her husband's death until her health issues forced her to live in a care home. She and her husband both worked at Bendix in Montrose for over 30 years and also operated a small dairy farm at the same time. She was not afraid to work in the barn and loved to look out the barn window at the top of the hay mound during haying season.
Iva spent her spare time caring for her home and gardening. She and her husband always had a big garden from which she froze and canned. Iva also loved her automobiles and possessed at any one time a new Buick or Cadillac. She loved NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt and possessed a love for local baseball which her husband was a player in his early years. She played organ and could shoot a firearm as good as most men. She also loved Pomeranian dogs.
She was a woman of strong faith and loved reading the Bible. She attended the Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville for many years until her decline of health prevented her.
Iva was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, her father and mother, brothers Nelson and Clayton and sister Alice Campbell. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Allen and Marge Seymour of Wysox as well as several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind Casey, her beloved Pomeranian dog.
There will be no visitation hours. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA., with Rev. Richard Camp of Laceyville, PA. officiating. Internment will be in the Lacey Street Cemetery at a later date.
