Jack David Allen, age 56, of Meshoppen, PA, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 24, 2016.
Jack was born in Tunkhannock, PA on July 18, 1960, the son of Bertha "Pat" Ann Allen of Meshoppen, PA, and the late Jack Ronald Allen. He graduated from Elk Lake High School with the class of 1978. On August 18, 1978 he married the former Linda Robbins and together they had three children. Jack worked at Penns Best for 27 years as a dispatcher, customer service representative, and office manager. He owned and operated Meshoppen Auto Parts for many years, and also worked for the US Postal Service, as a mail carrier.
Jack was a member of the Meshoppen Rod and Gun Club, Rought Hall American Legion Post# 510, and former member of the Meshoppen Volunteer Fire Company. He was a "Jack" of all trades. He loved working on cars in his spare time. Jack coached Little League and Travel Girls' Softball for over 20 years as well. Most of all, Jack was a family man who loved his family especially his grandchildren.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda Allen of Meshoppen, PA; his children Karen Elizabeth McMicken of Meshoppen, PA; Robert "Bob" Charles Allen (Courtney Sawkulich) Of Meshoppen, PA; and Krystal Dawn Allen of Wilkes-Barre, PA. Also surviving are his grandchildren Emily Maryanne Hollister; Kendalynn Grace McMicken; Ryker James Nally; his mother Bertha "Pat" Allen of Meshoppen, PA; brother Greg Allen Sr. (Ellen) of Montrose, PA; sister Debra Micklow (J.T.) of Meshoppen, PA; brother Jim Allen (Nancy) of Meshoppen, PA; mother-in-law Betty LaBarr of Laceyville, PA; siblings-in-law Steve Robbins; Denny Robbins; Joyce Robbins; Helen and Tim Thompson; Suzi Robbins; Gary and Kelly Robbins; Tom and Becky LaBarr; Randy Johnson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his father he was preceded in death by his son-in-law Joel McMicken; sister Paula Johnson; father-in-law Art Robbins; and father-in-law Dick LaBarr.
A memorial service for Jack will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen with Reverend Gary Myers of the Meshoppen Biblical Baptist Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00-3:00 PM and 5:00-7:00 PM.
