James Myron
Furman
March 2, 1945 – October 28, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James Myron Furman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away on October 28, 2024 at the age of 79. He was born on March 2, 1945 in Kingston, PA, the son of the late Reginald Burton Furman (d. June 12, 1997) and Dorothy M. Farr Furman (d. Dec. 24, 1999). James was raised on a farm in Roger Hollow in Mehoopany and lived a life full of love, laughter, and purpose.
Following in his father's footsteps, he drove truck from 1963-2022, driving for nearly 60 years for several local trucking companies. He was also a State Inspector for Truck Trailers. Locally, he was a dedicated member of the Meshoppen Rod & Gun Club and was also a member of the Forkston United Methodist Church. James was also a proud volunteer fire fighter of both the Mehoopany & Flemington, NJ Volunteer Fire Companies.
Jim thoroughly enjoyed attending local car races and he loved hunting deer. You would always find James centered around his family, especially at reunions, as making memories with family was most important to him.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Carol Repsher Furman, to whom he was married for 46 wonderful years. In addition to Carol, Jim, is survived by his children, James B. Furman of Tunkhannock, PA, Michele Darling (Keith) of Mehoopany, PA and Scott Davis (Jeannie) of Athens, 13 Grandchildren, and 28 Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Bonnie Payne of Brazori, TX and Patti McMicken (Neale) of Meshoppen, PA, sister-in-law, Barbara Culver of Black Walnut, PA, brother-in-law, Roger Repsher of Auburn, KY, many nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
James was proceeded in death by his children Kimberly Davis (d. Sept. 17, 2018) and Michael Davis (d. May 26, 2009), his brother Roger Furman, and brothers-in-law David Payne and David Culver.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 at 12:00 noon, from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church Street, Wyalusing, PA with Lay Minister Vickie Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at the Wyalusing Borough Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
