Mr. James Keeney Hallock, age 82, of North Flat, Laceyville, PA. passed away at the Meadowview Senior Living Center, in Montrose, PA on Saturday morning, March 14, 2015.
James was born at home on North Flat, May 1, 1932, the elder son of the late Albert S. and Dana Keeney Hallock. Jim attended the Laceyville School and graduated with the class of 1950. He also graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1954, with an associate degree in Dairy Husbandry.
Jim was 12 years old when his mother died, quite suddenly, on December 26, 1944, leaving his father to raise him and his younger brother.
Upon the death of their father, on April 6, 1960, Jim and his brother Ben assumed the operation of the family's Arrowhead Farm of Registered Holsteins. Both Jim and Ben retired in 1996.
Jim was a lifetime member of the Goodwill Fire Co., of Laceyville, PA, having joined in 1960. He served in all of the Executive Offices and retired from the company as their president. He also received the Fireman of the Year Award in 1992.
Jim was a member of the former Laceyville Lodge 439 IOOF, until it's consolidation with Wysox Lodge 1152 IOOF, continuing his membership there. He was a Past Noble Grand Master and Past District Deputy Grand Master.
Jim was a past Windham Township Supervisor. He also served as the township's chairman, secretary, also its auditor and the Emergency Management Coordinator, over the many years.
Jim has also been president of the North Flat Cemetery Association from 1972 until 2008. Throughout the years, he was a member of the National Rifle Association, the South Auburn Grange #1188 and a past member of the Holstein Association of America, and a past member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau.
Jim was the seventh generation to live on and farm the homestead. Jim leaves behind several cousins and many good friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Hallock, who passed away on April 20, 2008.
As to the wishes of Jim, there will be no viewing or funeral services. Graveside services will be held in the North Flat Cemetery in Laceyville, PA at a later date.
