IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James "Jamie"
Gemski
April 1, 1957 – February 8, 2026
James “Jamie” Gemski, age 68, of Laceyville, PA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday February 8, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him always.
He was born on April 1, 1957 in Wilkes-Barre, PA the son of the late Narcy and Renee Trabish Gemski. He was employed with Cornell Manufacturing and later with GTP from which he retired after 30 years as a Drafter.
Jamie was an avid outdoorsman. He found great joy hunting, fishing, and camping, especially when those moments were shared with his family. He also found joy in playing darts and horseshoes with his friends. You would always find him working on a new project, as his summer hobby. Those were the times when he felt most at peace and most himself. He will be remembered for his love of nature, his quiet strength, and the devotion he showed to his family, friends, and pets.
Jamie is survived by his wife with whom he has been together with for 39 years, Janice Werts Gemski; his stepdaughters, Jemma Gregoire, Chantel Surrett, and Kristie Force; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also survived by his brother, Timothy Gemski; sister-in-law, Marie Gemski; as well as his beloved niece, Katie and her daughter, Eden. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his Godchild, Dyana Dobranski-Ferrari along with other loved ones.
Jamie’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, but his memory will live on through the stories shared, every new project started, and the traditions continued.
A Celebration of Life will be held this summer with the time and place to be announced. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Jamie’s memory and share stories of the life he lived and the love he gave.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Jamie’s name to your local humane society.
Arrangements are entrusted with Sheldon Funeral Homes. Online condolences may be made at www.SheldonFuneralHomes.com.
