James David Jones, age 68 of Lawton, PA, passed away unexpectedly in the early morning hours on July 13, 2021, after a long battle from surgical complications.
Jim was born on February 24, 1953, in Meshoppen, PA. He was the son of the late Cecil and Christine Bomboy Jones. Jim attended Elk Lake School District class of 1971. He was employed with the Elk Lake School District for 30 years. During the last few years of his employment with the district, he was the maintenance supervisor. Jim along with his wife, Sharon, were the owners/operators of bus #5 for the Elk Lake School.
Jim enjoyed going fishing with friends, spending time at hunting camp, countless hours with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and trips to Tennessee with his wife, Sharon.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon DeWitt Jones. His son and daughter in law, Jason and Morgin Jones, of Lawton, PA, daughter, Shana Kamarauskas, of Lawton, PA, son, Scott "Nuke" Baldwin, of Harford, PA, daughter, Renee Freed (Kirk) of McAlisterville, PA and son, James C. Jones of Denver, CO. His grandchildren, Mara and Eric Strohl, of Montrose, PA, Paul Scott and Becky Baldwin, of Meshoppen, PA, Nikki and Jimmy Joines, of Lawton, PA, Brandon and Lacey Wolf, of Lawton, PA, Alexia Jones, and Cooper Jones, both of Lawton, PA, and Carter, Nathaniel, and Madyson Freed all of McAlisterville, PA; also his great-grandchildren, Maverick, Maci, Hunter, Gage, Branson, Brayden, Aiden, Maya, and soon to be Baby Winston Wolf and Baby Joines. Jim is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Elaine Jones, of Harrisburg, PA, sister Dawn Sharon of Friendsville, PA, and brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Penny Jones, of Laceyville, PA. His extended family of in laws, mother-in-law, Bette DeWitt, of Herrickville, PA, brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Peggy DeWitt, of Naples, FL, and sister in law, Nancy Preston, of Herrickville, PA, and several nieces and nephews, a special niece and nephew, Rick and Michelle Simonds, of Athens, PA, as well as numerous special friends and extended family. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Williams, his niece, Angel Sharon, grandson, Collin James Burton, great-granddaughter, Elle Baldwin, his father-in-law, Donald DeWitt, and brothers in law, Roy Preston, and Ralph Sharon.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at 4:00 PM, from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA, with Lay Minister Vickie Ellis, of the Beaver Meadows Community Church officiating, Interment will be at the convenience of the family at a later date. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
