James L. Tinna, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Mehoopany on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Born on July 27, 1953 in Meshoppen, PA, Jim was the son of that late Harold Robert "Bim" Tinna, Sr. (d. Dec. 19, 1996) and the late Hettie Goodwin Tinna (d. April 19, 2016).  He attended Wyalusing Valley High School where he excelled in sports, particularly wrestling, before graduating in 1971.  He received many honors for his exploits in wrestling, including being inducted into the school's Hall of Fame.

Jim began his professional career at Proctor & Gamble where he worked for 13 years before transitioning to driving truck and serving as a dispatcher for Campo and Kane Trucking.  After retiring in 2018, he kept busy by helping out on area farms and enjoyed watching his sons, Brett and Chadd, and eventually his grandson, Weston, in their racing endeavors.  Jim also spent a lot of time and energy supporting the wrestling programs in Wyalusing and Tunkhannock.  In his younger days, he could often be found participating in various softball leagues and tournaments around the area.  Jim was also an excellent handyman.  He loved working on things that needed to be fixed and tinkering with anything he could.

Surviving Jim are his sons, Brett Tinna (Kellie) of Mehoopany, PA and Chadd Tinna (Tara) of Forkston Twp., PA; his grandchildren, Weston, Gannon, Brandon, Kallie, Connor, Everlee, and Ellie Mae Tinna; his siblings, Mike Goodwin (Connie) of Jenningsville, PA, Yvonne Boice of Tunkhannock, PA, Shirley Goodwin (Phillip) of Jenningsville, PA, Harold Tinna (Gail) of Waco, TX, Wendy Bloom (Lynn) of Sugar Run, PA, Connie Benscoter (Randy) of Laceyville, PA, Luann Gowin of Laceyville, PA, and Carol Bates of Wyalusing, PA.  He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Wendy Tinna of Jenningsville, PA, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his siblings, Penny Sue Tinna (d. Nov. 26, 1990), Marsha Ann Henning (d. May 3, 2015), Kenneth Tinna (d. Feb. 16, 2020); and his nieces, Denise Tinna (d. Oct. 6, 1978) and Nicole Boice (d. April 25, 2010).

A Funeral Service for Jim will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623 on Thursday, May 15 at 11:00 with Reverend Charles Bishop officiating.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 14 from 5:00-8:00 PM.  Interment will follow the funeral service and take place at the Lacey Street Cemetery in Laceyville, PA.
