With her family by her side, Janet "Jan" Marie Bouse-Stoddard, age 65, was taken home to be with her heavenly Father, on Friday, June 17, 2016.

Jan, a beloved wife, mother, and cancer advocate was born on June 26, 1950 in Towanda, PA. She was the daughter of the late George F. Bouse and Lola Franklin Bouse. She graduated from Wyalusing Valley Jr/Sr High School with the class of 1968 and the following year from Empire Beauty School.

On May 29, 2004 she married her lifetime love and best friend Lloyd "Garn" Stoddard. Jan owned and operated Jan's Beauty Shoppe in New Albany for 46 years.

Jan was recognized for her years of dedication to helping many people in her life. She received the Spirit of Noel Award which is given by Modern Magazine, The Gallery of Hope Award presented by Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Outstanding Citizen in 2001 by The Daily Review, Volunteer of the Year Award for the American Cancer Society in 1993, the Sunrise Award given by the American Cancer Society, and Mrs. New Albany in 1980. She was the founder and chairman for the Wyalusing Relay for Life and her dream goal was accomplished this year at the Relay for Life when participants were able to join hands and encircle the track in her honor. She served as the Look Good Feel Better Director, a board member for the Abuse and Rape Crisis Center, organizer for Women of Faith worship tours, as well as, serving on the New Albany Borough Council.

Jan loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, knitting, and she loved to go camping with her family. Jan was always looking to go on adventures, she traveled to many different places, many with her sister and brother-in-law, Reta and Dave by her side. She celebrated her life living for Jesus, and was a member of Victory Church in Troy, PA.

Jan is survived by her loving husband Garn Stoddard of Sugar Run, PA; her children Stacy McBride (Bill) of New Albany, PA; Scott Stoddard (Nikki) of Tucson, AZ; Marcy Higley (Mike) of Dushore, PA; Donald Stoddard (Dawn) of Laceyville; Todd O'Conner (Shelli) of Sugar Run, PA; and Jacob Stoddard of Sugar Run, PA; God-daughter Natalie Salsman (Todd) of Wyalusing, PA; grandchildren Trevor, Trey, Ariah, Dylan, Jesse, Savannah, Makenzie, Georgia, Bretny, Gabrielle, Parker, Will, Hayden, and Maya; great-grandchildren Benjamin, Vanessa, Trinity, Jonica, Harper, and Hadley. Also surviving are her siblings Earl Bouse (Cindy); Judi Looney (Bill); Ike Bouse (Debbie); Reta Manley (Dave); and Lois Hugo (Ron) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, brother/sister-in-laws, and many special friends. Besides her parents, Jan was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Shaylee Maran; her nephew Bret Keefe; and nieces Janice Looney Baumer and Nicole Ferris Keefe.

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Victory Church in Troy, PA with her pastor, Josh Payne officiating. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
