Obituary
Jean Marie Ball, age 79, of Meshoppen, PA, passed away Saturday morning, October 18, 2014 at the Tyler Memorial Hospital in Tunkhannock, PA.
She was born on April 15, 1935 in Alba, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Sarah Roof Warren. She was a graduate of Canton High School, and The Robert Packer Nursing School in 1955. She was employed as a home health nurse for 22 years.
Jean married the late Joseph Grant Ball on March 10, 1956, who passed away on May 3, 1997.
She was an active member of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church, the South Auburn Grange #1188, and the Meshoppen Area Red Hat Society. She was a past board member of the Meshoppen Public Library. Jean also volunteered her time for the Red Cross Blood Mobile, Seven Loaves Soup Kitchen in Tunkhannock, and the Kiwanis Wyoming County Fair. She always loved to sing, and did so in the Tunkhannock Library Show. She was very proud of her family and also extended family.
Jean is survived by her two sons, Michael Ball of Meshoppen, PA, Frank Ball and wife Patricia of West Chester, PA, and her daughter, Laura Lane and husband Jay of Laceyville, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Matthew Towey, Jennifer Towey, Sarah Lane, and Theodore Lane, her great-grandchildren Connor and Bryn McConnell, as well as many nieces, nephew, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Besides her parents and her husband of 41 years she was preceded in death by her son, Stephen (December 13, 2005) and her brother, Donald (January 14, 2011).
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 11:00AM at Sheldon Funeral Homes, SR 6 Meshoppen, PA with Reverend Gil Clark of the Meshoppen Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the South Auburn Cemetery. Friends and family may call on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 4:00- 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
