Jennie B. McMicken, age 94, of Laceyville, PA, passed away on Saturday evening, August 25, 2018 at the Gardens at Tunkhannock.

Jennie was born on December 10, 1923 in Scottsville, PA (Mehoopany), the daughter of the late John Barnes and Ida Barber Barnes. Jennie was a graduate of Laceyville High School with the Class of 1942. After high school Jennie went on to graduate from beauty school. On March 10, 1945, she married Willard Roy McMicken and the couple was together for 49 years until his passing on May 27, 1994.

Jennie was a member of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church and also taught Sunday School there for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Braintrim Baptist Church in Laceyville, PA. She loved to tend to her vegetable and flower garden. She was a quilter and also loved to crochet. Jennie also liked to look up her genealogy, she had her family's genealogy looked up back to the 1600s.

Jennie is survived by her son Philip McMicken of Laceyville, PA; her daughter Marietta Weller and her husband David of Landenberg, PA; grandchildren, Craig Weller; Joyce Weller; Jonathon McMicken; Shannon McMicken; Karen Maxwell; and Brenda Polons. Jennie is also survived by numerous great and great-great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents Jennie was preceded in death by her son Arlo McMicken, who passed away on March 20, 2015; grandson Joel McMicken, who passed away on May 19, 2014; grandson Brett Weller, who passed away on October 22, 2017; brother John Barnes, who passed away on July 15, 1983; brother Thomas Barnes, who passed away on December 9, 1974, and sister Maude Magee, February 8, 1988.

Funeral services for Jennie will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 2:00 PM from Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Laceyville, PA with Pastor Richard Vieldhouse officiating. Interment will follow at North Flat Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
