IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jennie M
Owen
January 17, 1939 – April 15, 2025
Jennie Marie Owen (Wandall) of Laceyville, PA, at the age of 86, peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on April 15th, 2025. Born on January 17th, 1939, in Meshoppen, PA, her life was a testament to resilience, hard work, unwavering dedication to family, and a hint of stubbornness.
Jennie's journey through life was as colorful as the dresses she helped create in various dress factories across Bradford and Wyoming County. Her hands were steady and skilled, working tirelessly until she retired from Kane Warehouse after more than a decade of service. But perhaps her most cherished role was that of a nurturing force for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
You could sometimes find her testing her luck at the slots or window shopping at the flea market on Mother's Day. Family events, great-grandchildren's sporting events, and school productions brought her an endless amount of joy. Almost every Sunday was spent with her in the kitchen cooking a big Sunday dinner for her family to enjoy, and all were welcome to attend. When she had downtime, she enjoyed watching the Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy after a long day.
She is survived by her youngest sister, Grace Bowman; two sons, Carl (Maxine) Owen and Dennis Owen; one daughter, Carol Estell; 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Martha Wandall, two brothers, Robert and Raymond Wandall, and two sisters, Cora "Jane" Richards and Nellie Owen. Her loving husband, Francis Owen, a son, Eugene Owen, and two daughters, Sharon Franklin and Sandra Thompson. A son-in-law, Lewis Estell, one granddaughter, Samantha Carlin, and one great-grandson, Cody Franklin.
A Graveside service for Jennie will be held at 11 a.m. on April 26th, 2025, at the Lacey Street Cemetery, with Rev. Charles Bishop of the Transue Community Church officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted through the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA.
