Jerry Bennett, age 78, passed away on Thursday morning, April 13, 2023 at his home in Laceyville, PA.

Born in Statesboro, GA on August 5, 1944, he was the son of the late Will and Effie Mae Bennett.  After receiving his GED, Jerry moved to Newark, NJ where he would become a Newark Special Police Officer.  Being a policeman was something Jerry was very proud and passionate about and he served his community in this position for over 30 years.

Along with his love of his job, Jerry's other great passion in life was playing his guitar.  He absolutely loved playing the blues with his bandmates, who together, formed the Dynamic Sparks.  Jerry was also an extremely dedicated and loving father to his children.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Vickie Robinson (Anthony Farr); his grandchildren, Lee Robinson, Antuan Robinson, Tamesha Robinson, and Allen Robinson, Jr.; his siblings, Isaiah Bennett (Sarah), Sam Bennett, Ben Bennett, and Josephine Bennett; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-son, Allen Robinson; his grandson Amari Robinson; his brothers, Buster Bennett, Eugene Bennett, Leeman Bennett, John Bennett and his wife Mary Alice Bennett, Robert Bennett and Henry Williams; his sisters, Clara Bennett, Ethel Clark, LillieMae Bennett, Gussie Bennett and Mary Brady; his sister-in-law, Ethel Bennett; and his ex-wife, Renee Bennett.

A funeral service for Jerry will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023 from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 459 Main St., Laceyville, PA 18623, at 1:00 PM with Isaiah Bennett officiating and Michelle Bennett-Ayers doing the selection and singing.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
