Jerry Allen Mikus, age 79, of South Auburn, PA, passed away after a long-term illness on Wednesday evening, November 4, 2026, at the Tunkhannock Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Tunkhannock, PA.

He was born in Newton, NJ, on August 24, 1947, to the late Walter E. Mikus Sr. and Ruth Trieble Mikus, and graduated from Parsippany High School.

After high school, Jerry was called on by his country to serve during the Vietnam War with the United States Army. During this time, Jerry learned the art and skill of being a dental technician. After his time in the service, Jerry established Jerron Dental Labs in New Jersey, where he perfected his craft over the years.

Upon his retirement, Jerry and his longtime companion, Thora Pihl, moved up to their house in South Auburn. During his time in Pennsylvania, Jerry loved to hunt and spend time outdoors. He loved to watch the deer and other creatures graze on his land. Jerry was an amazing cook and made wonderful meals. He was a real resident prankster to his family and friends. Jerry made sure everyone's bodies were full of food, and their souls were filled with laughter. When Jerry wasn't playing pranks, cooking amazing food, or spending time in the woods, you could find him with a book in his hands; he was an avid reader and loved the works of Jack London.

Jerry is survived by his longtime companion, Thora Pihl of South Auburn, PA; his son, Brian (Samantha) Mikus of New Jersey; his daughter, Brenda Mikus of New Jersey; his grandchildren, Hunter and Charlotte Mikus; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held on Monday, November 9, 2026, at 4:00 PM from the Sheldon Funeral Homes, 459 Main Street, Laceyville, PA 18623, with Chaplain Brian Nichols of Compassion Care Hospice.
