IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Joanne
Salsman
September 2, 1952 – July 25, 2024
Joanne Salsman, age 71, of Golden Hill passed away at her home on Thursday morning, July 25, 2024 while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sayre, PA on September 2, 1952, Joanne was the daughter of the late Vera Woodruff (d. Aug. 1, 1995) and Howard Salsman, Sr. (d. Dec. 11, 1977). After growing up in the Laceyville area, she would first find employment as a glass blower at Nepp Wire in Meshoppen before finding her calling as owner of the Trail Inn, also in Meshoppen.
Starting in 1980, Joanne was able to build a business that was well known and loved around the area, especially for its famous Trail Burgers. She loved her work and enjoyed all of her customers, considering them part of her extended "Trail Family".
When she wasn't making friends and serving delicious burgers, Joanne enjoyed being at home tending her flowers and mowing her lawn. When it came to mowing her lawn, she was very particular in the manner it was mowed. Not only would she have very specific instructions for anyone brave enough to help with the task, she would watch with a scrutinizing eye from the window, and be sure to march out and let them know if they weren't following her directions precisely.
Surviving Joanne is her son, Doug Salsman of Golden Hill, PA; her grandsons Gavin Perris of Binghamton, NY and Braedyn Salsman of Golden Hill, PA; close family friend and Braedyn's mother, Kim Rogers of Golden Hill, PA; her siblings, Richard Salsman (Darlene) of Meshoppen, PA, Marlene Rodriguez of Laceyville, PA, Linda Brown of Laceyville, PA, and Jeffrey Salsman (Reenie Siglan) of Laceyville, PA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, Joanne is preceded in death by her siblings Duane Salsman, Maynard Salsman, Lyle Salsman, Romaine Salsman, Eldon Salsman, David Salsman, Edsel Salsman, and Reatha Robinson.
In lieu of services for Joanne, it was her request that a picnic be held at the family home with friends and family on Saturday, August 17, 2024, starting at 1:00 PM. All are invited to come and celebrate Jojo's life and share a story or memory. It is requested that all in attendance bring a dish to pass, lawn chairs, and beverage of your choice. The home is located at 1338 Church Rd., Laceyville, PA 18623, and remember, please do not park on Joanne's yard.
