Obituary
Joel Clayton McMicken, age 35, of 412 Williams Rd, Meshoppen, PA passed away Monday morning May 19, 2014 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident that occurred in Meshoppen twp., Wyoming County.
Joel was born on September 23, 1978 the son of Arlo W. and Gwen H. Hoffman McMicken of Wyalusing, PA. He was a member of the Wyalusing Valley High School class of 1997.
He was employed with Williams Oil and Gas, Inc. of Tunkhannock, PA as an Operations Technician. He worked at many compression stations throughout Wyoming and Susquehanna Counties.
He enjoyed participating and helping with the Hunts for Healing at the Ringneck Ridge Hunting Club in South Auburn, PA. He was a past member of the Sayre Sportsmen's Club. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing all through Northeastern Pennsylvania with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife the former Karen Elizabeth Allen McMicken and their daughter Kendalynn Grace McMicken, age 3 ½, of Meshoppen, PA; his parents Arlo W. and Gwen H. Hoffman McMicken of Wyalusing, PA; his father and mother in law Jack and Linda Robbins Allen of Meshoppen, PA; his brothers Jonathan R. McMicken of Wyalusing, PA and Shannon E. McMicken of Wysox, PA; his sisters Karen Maxwell and her husband David of Mildred, PA and Brenda Polons and her husband Joseph of Dickson City, PA; his brother in law Robert Allen of Meshoppen, PA; his sister in law Krystal Allen of Wilkes-Barre, PA; his maternal grandmother Patricia W. Hoffman of Wyalusing, PA; his paternal grandmother Jenny B. McMicken of Laceyville, PA; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many close and special friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Donald Hoffman and his paternal grandfather Willard McMicken.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, SR 6, Meshoppen, PA with Rev. Gary Myers of the Meshoppen Biblical Baptist Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. A private burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
