John "Jack" Brewer, age 80, of Slatington, PA, passed away on Thursday morning, December 14, 2023 at the St. Luke's Hospital in Lehighton.

Jack was born in Meshoppen, PA on October 10, 1943, the son of the late Harry (d. Oct. 12, 1972) and Betty Ladner Brewer (d. July 19, 1984).  Growing up in the Meshoppen area, he attended Elk Lake High School where he would graduate with the class of 1961.

After high school, Jack found employment on the railway, working for Conrail.  In his free time, he enjoyed being in the outdoors.  He could often be found hunting, 4-wheeling, and working on the farm.

Jack is survived by his children, Mark Brewer (Theresa) of Meshoppen, PA, Wade Brewer of Laceyville, PA, Denise Livermore (Ron) of Meshoppen, PA, and Lacey Remaley (Derek) of Slatington, PA; and his siblings, Susan Adelstine (Shelly) of Florida, Carol Brewer (Roger) of Georgia, Donald Brewer (Cynthia) of Meshoppen, PA, Jerry Brewer (Harriet) of Meshoppen, PA, and Nancy McGavin of Tunkhannock, PA.  He is also survived by several grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lucille Platt (d. Jan. 1, 2015) and his brother, Bill Brewer (d. July 29, 2010).

A funeral service for Jack will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 Rte 6, Meshoppen, PA 18630 with Reverend Charlie Bishop of the Transue and Elk Lake Community Churches officiating.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
