Obit for John James Kintner
Mr. John James Kintner, age 50, of Meshoppen, PA. passed away suddenly at the Geisinger Community Medical Center, in Scranton, PA. on Wednesday afternoon, April 17, 2013.
John was born in Meshoppen, PA. on April 13, 1963 the son of the late James W. Kintner who passed away on May 21, 2002, and Elizabeth A. Beck Kintner who passed away on March 7, 2006.
Growing up in Meshoppen, PA., John was a graduate of the Elk Lake High School. While going to school and after, John spent a lot of time working at his parent's grocery store, Kintner's Market, in Meshoppen. John also worked on the family farm, and worked for many years, for Laird and Jeff Frantz Dairy Farm, in Meshoppen. John enjoyed being outdoors, and sent many hours hunting on the family farm. In his spare time, John sold firewood for many years.
John was a member of the Meshoppen Fire Co., spending many hours at the fire hall, and enjoyed helping with many chicken barbeques.
Surviving is his brother, William L. Kintner of Tunkhannock, PA. and his sister, Mary Beth Harshbarger, of Meshoppen, PA., and nieces and nephews. John is also survived by a special aunt, Madge (Sis) Abushady, of Meshoppen, PA. and special friends, with whom he lived for many years, Holly and Rick Stark of Meshoppen, PA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother in law, Mark B. Harshbarger, who passed away on Sept. 14, 2006 and a special uncle, Ramsey Abushady who passed away on July 28, 2011.
Family will receive friends at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Meshoppen, PA. on Monday evening, April 22, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorial services and interment, in the Overfield Cemetery in Meshoppen, will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
