Obituary

On May 8 th , 2019, John Ralph McHenry entered into his eternal life surrounded by his family at home in Rock Hill, SC after a brief battle with liver cancer.

He was born on July 10, 1959 in Harrisburg, PA, a son of the late Russell Person McHenry, Sr. and late Barbara Lou (Todd) McHenry.

He was a graduate of Sullivan County High School in Laporte, PA. John was a veteran having served in the United States Air Force.

John attended The Pennsylvania State University in Wilkes Barre studying Business Administration. He also is a graduate of Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in Syracuse, NY.

John loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping with his family and especially with his beloved wife Debra. He enjoyed boating and fishing with his children and barbecues with friends and family. John loved Nascar and fast muscle cars. He played pool and spent many hours in the garage working on cars. He had a special love for woodworking and building projects and was fortunate to use that passion in his professional life as a Construction Superintendent for residential construction in South Carolina. John enjoyed playing a round of golf.

John was very proud of his past Masonic heritage which he shared with his late father Russell and his brother. He is Past Worshipful Master of Wyalusing Lodge No. 618 F.&A.M., and served as lodge secretary. His other masonic memberships include Williamsport Consistory, Scottish Rite, Towanda, PA. He served as Past District Deputy Grand Master of the 16 th District and was a 32° Mason.

John was a kind and compassionate man – he devoted many of his years to the family owned McHenry Funeral Homes of Wyalusing and Dushore, PA. He was a gentle soul and supported so many in the community as they dealt with the loss of their own loved ones. He will be sincerely missed.

John is survived by his wife Debra (Garofolo) McHenry, his children Shannon (Matt) Lord of Laceyville, PA, Ryan (Tyler) McHenry Larsen of South Lebanon, PA, and Sheridan (Sarah) McHenry of Covington and their mother Sheri McHenry of Troy, PA. He is also survived by Debra's children, Valerie (Eric) Kohlenberg of York, PA and James Kohlenberg of Philadelphia, PA. He leaves behind seven grandchildren – Matisyn, Hayden, Laedyn, Gannon, Kaiden, Nolan and Brooklyn. He is also survived by his siblings Sylvia (Brad) McHenry-Silfies of Danielsville, PA, Marilyn (Tony) Skicki of Lititz, PA, Sharon (Bruce) Orlowski of Long Pond, PA, Russell McHenry Jr of Supply, NC, and Tracy McHenry of Harrisburg, PA.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Lou Todd McHenry and Russell Person McHenry Sr.

Services were held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, SC on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Connells Dam – White Ash Land Trust Pavilions, in Dushore, PA at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 18 th , 2019 with Reverend Robert Brown officiating.  The Celebration will begin with Masonic Services conducted by the membership of the Union Lodge # 108 F&AM followed by Military Honor Service conducted by the membership of the Wyalusing American Legion Post# 534 and the Dushore American Legion Post# 996.
