IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Alden
Mowry
December 19, 1956 – July 14, 2024
John Alden Mowry, age 67, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at his home in Clapper Hill. He was surrounded by his loving family.
John was born on December 19, 1956 in Meshoppen, PA, son of Eleanore Lott and the late Elston Alden Mowry (d. April 1, 2017). He graduated from Wyalusing Valley High School in 1975. After graduation, John entered the workforce and found employment with Cornell's, Sylvania, and eventually driving truck for several local companies before settling in as a driver for Meshoppen Stone.
It was at Meshoppen Stone where John developed a deep passion for his work, driving truck and hauling stone. He often commented on how much he loved "getting stoned" (aka hauling stone). It was also during this time that he built an incredible love and respect for the owner of Meshoppen Stone, Bill Ruark, that will live on in his heart forever.
When he was home, John enjoyed working on the farm, tinkering in the garage, listening to classic rock, attending tractor pulls and drag races, and playing softball. He also had a passion for classic cars and Harley Davidsons, watching NASCAR, and taking hunting trips out west with the "Good Ol Boys".
John's love for his children and grandchildren was endless. He left us a legacy of having a strong work ethic, endless love, and always showing forgiveness to others. His smile will forever be ingrained into the hearts to those that were blessed to know him.
Surviving John is his mother, Eleanore Mowry of Clapper Hill, PA; his children, Kelly Conrad (Shane) of Hillsboro, VA, Jonathan Mowry (Brittany) of Clapper Hill, PA, Tara Wheeler (Matt) of Towanda, PA, Marissa Yates (Steven) of Towanda, PA; his grandchildren, Skylar Mowry (Mina), Wyatt Conrad, Adaleigh Jankowsky, Harrison Conrad, Charlee Wheeler, Novah Greer, Frankee Wheeler, Maddilyn Mowry, Briella Mowry, Bo Yates, and Baby Yates on the way; and his favorite fur-child, Ben Mowry. John is also survived by his sisters, Annette Mileto (Joe) of Williamsport, PA, who he shared a very special relationship with, and Barb Barbacci (Dennis Puza) of Tunkhannock, PA; his girlfriend, Laurie Benjamin; his nieces and nephews, Alden Mileto, Simone Mileto, Bella Mileto, Christopher Barbacci, and Brittany Dewey; his special friends, Patti and Bruce Tewksbury of Spring Hill, PA, as well as many other close friends.
Along with his father, John was preceded in death by his grandson, Sawyer Conrad (d. April 9, 2013) and his soul-mate, Lynda Williams (d. May 14, 2012).
