John C. Mraz, Jr., age 76, of LeRaysville, PA passed away Friday afternoon, April 28, 2017 at the Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital.
John was born on February 8, 1941 in Rahway, NJ the son of the late John C. and Magdalene (Madge) Jasuilewicz Mraz, Sr. He grew up in Rahway and graduated from Rahway High School.
He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After serving his country John was a truck driver and later owned and operated his father's AMOCO gas station in Rahway after the passing of his father.
After his retirement, John and his late wife Marie moved to LeRaysville, PA in 1993. Sadly his wife passed away in October of 2002. John was a very giving person with a heart of gold. He was the caregiver for his wife when she became ill as well as for his mother and his sister.
John loved to hunt and one of his best hunting tales occurred in Canada when he and some friends went on a bear hunt. He was able to down two bear in the first hour of the hunt and his friends had no luck the entire trip. He also loved his cats.
John is survived by his sister Patricia Clement and her husband Chester of Chula Vista, CA; his sister-in-law, Diane Clim and her husband Robert of Port Charlotte, FL; his brother-in-law, Robert Brienza of Flemington, NJ; his great friends, Semanda and Pasquale Ferrera of LeRaysville, PA; as well as one niece and two nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Magdalene Leonard.
It was John's wishes not to have any services at this time. There will be a private graveside service at a later date at the St. Bernard's Cemetery in Raritan, NJ.
