Mr. John M. Parys, age 97, of Spring Hill Road, Laceyville, PA, passed away at his home, just outside of Laceyville, PA, on Friday morning, December 14, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones.

John was born on Clapper Hill, Bradford County, PA, on July 23, 1921, the son of the late Louis and Anna Frask Parys. Growing up around the Laceyville area, John was a graduate of the Laceyville High School with the class of 1939.

After his graduation from high school, he worked on the Jones Farm for Benjamin and Helen Jones. John worked for many years for the Jones', until the death of Benjamin, he would later keep the farm going, working for many years for Helen Jones. After the death of Helen, he continued working the Jones Farm and later purchasing the Ben Sheldon Farm in 1962. The combination of the two farms became the John Parys Farm, continuing until today, for the last 56 years. From the early 1960's, John started selling farm equipment, and repairing equipment for many farmers throughout Pennsylvania and into New York State. Selling New Holland Equipment, for many years, and was recognized as the company's top salesman, many years. John also sold many other brands and types of equipment, expanding into the logging and stone quarry industry.

Working at the farm and selling equipment all of his life, John did not have much spare time, or have any time for hobbies, or any other interests. He did enjoy the Weekday Morning Breakfast Club, and enjoyed going out for lunch and dinner, with his employees, colleagues and friends.

John was never married, but is survived by his long-time friend and companion, Mrs. Betty Jackson, also a sister, Mrs. Genevieve Aroaro, of New Jersey, and many nieces and nephews, and scores of friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Stanley Parys, and Joseph Parys, and a sister, Bernice Ramsure, and his good friends, Benjamin and Helen Jones.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM, at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA with Rev. Charles Bishop, of the Transue Community Church officiating. Interment will be in the Lacey St. Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home, on Wednesday from12:00 Noon and until the time of the service.
