John E. Stevens, age 70, of Laddsburg, PA passed away at his home on Sunday, April 17, 2016.
John was born on July 26, 1945 the son of the late Earl "Hootie" Stevens who passed away on November 25, 1992 and Dorothy Ford Stevens who passed away on July 2, 2003. He attended the Wyalusing and New Albany High Schools. He was the husband of the late Nancy V. Tuttle Stevens who passed away on July 20, 1991. John worked many jobs over the years but his passion was for truck driving and he last drove truck for McCarty Sawmill in Millville, PA.
John was a man who loved the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as farming with his brother Elmer. He liked to watch rodeos and football, especially his favorite football team the Philadelphia Eagles. John like to travel and driving around the country as well as going out for dinner. He was a joking man who enjoyed busting other people's chops. But most of all John liked spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs.
John is survived by his daughters Suzanne Mahoney and her husband Mike of New Albany, PA; Patty Wulff and Dan Brown of Sugar Run, PA; Barb Speary of Lost Lake, PA; Kim Francis and her husband Bill of Edenton, NC; Debra Harell and her husband Mike of Edenton, NC; Mary Tobin and her husband Ron of Standing Stone, PA; Laurie Brown of Monroeton, PA; son Bob Fries and his wife Tammy of College Park, GA; and companion Donna Molyneux of Laddsburg, PA. Also surviving are his 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother Elmer Stevens and wife Audrey of Laddsburg, PA; sister Diana Brassington of Laddsburg, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Ann Marie Stevens who passed away on January 25, 1968.
Interment will be held at the Laddsburg Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to a cancer society or cancer foundation of the donor's choice.
