John H. White, age 94, of 1504 McGavin Rd, Meshoppen (Auburn Center), PA passed away Monday afternoon, September 14, 2015 at his home.

He was born on September 12, 1921 in Auburn Township, PA the son of the late Joseph and Katherine Brotzman White. He was a graduate of Auburn High School.

After high school John married his wife, the late Louise Larue on September 5, 1943 and together they owned and operated their farm in Auburn Center for 70 years. The farm was on McGavin Road where he lived for all but seven years of his life.

John was a member of the Jersey Hill Church, the Jersey Hill Cemetery Association for many years, as well as the Pennsylvania Farmers Association. His love for farming started when he was young. He would say that "I saw the world go from horse and buggy then to the moon" because when he started as a farmer he would use a horse to work the fields, the barn would have no electricity, and he would have to take a kerosene lantern to the barn each day. He would be there to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and was always ready to tell a great story. John loved to spend time with his family and friends.

John is survived by his grandchildren Robin Brown and her husband Danny of Auburn Center, PA, Francine Stevens and her husband Anthony of Richmond, VA, Robert Francis Levi White and his wife Aimee of Richmond, VA, Jeffrey White and his wife Sarah of Madeira Beach, FL, Douglas White and his wife Shelley of Chesapeake, VA, Suzanne White and her husband Roberto Fernandez of Clearwater, FL, and Scott Brian White and his wife Elizabeth of Pittsburgh, PA; his nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; his daughters-in-law Judy White Meeks of Richmond, VA and Carol White of Auburn Center, PA; many nieces and nephews, as well as his special four legged friend, Mike. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Louise Larue White on June 20, 2013; his sons Francis White and Howard White; his grandson John Joseph White; his brother Joseph White, Jr.; and his sisters-in-law Camille Chamberlin, Betty Hunsinger, and Mary Jane Sible.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 1:00 PM from the Jersey Hill Church, SR 267, Meshoppen, PA with Reverend Gary Myers of the Meshoppen Biblical Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Jersey Hill Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the church.
