Obituary
Joseph James Allen, age 41, of Laceyville, PA. (North Flat), passed away unexpectedly, early Wednesday morning, December 16, 2015 at the Tyler Memorial Hospital, in Tunkhannock, PA.
Joseph was born in Philadelphia, PA. on May 9, 1974 the son of Nancy Smith Allen Butterbaugh, whom he lived with in Laceyville, PA. and the late Harry Allen, who passed away on August 17, 1994. He was also the Step-son of the late Lewis J. (Jim) Butterbaugh Jr., who passed away on August 17, 2013. After moving to the Laceyville area, at the age of 10, Joseph attended the Laceyville Elementary School, and later graduated from the Wyalusing High School with the class of 1992. While at Wyalusing, Joe was a member of the wrestling team. After graduation he later attended ITT Technical Institute, in Scranton, PA.
After his graduation, he was employed over the years, at Wal-Mart in Tunkhannock, PA. and most recently as a fork truck operator at XLC Services, in Mehoopany, PA.
Joseph was a member of the Steel Wheel Riders Motorcycle Club, of Tunkhannock, PA. He just recently started attending the Tunkhannock Pilgrim Holiness Church, and enjoyed helping out with many church functions and activities. Joseph also loved being surrounded by his family and friends. Joe's greatest joy was his passionate love for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Surviving is his Mother, Nancy Butterbaugh of Laceyville, PA; his son, Joseph Brian Allen of Brooklyn, NY, his two sisters, Brenda Louise Smiley, and Shelly Mae and her husband Andrew Dexter, and his nephew, Garrett Dexter, all of New Albany, PA. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be no funeral services. Joseph's family will be receiving family and friends at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA. on Sunday afternoon, December 20, 2015 from 12:00 noon until 3:00 PM. Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial donations to the charity of the donor's choice.
