Mr. Joseph J. "Tyke" Kostantewicz, age 75, of State Route 3005, Meshoppen, PA (South Auburn), passed away on Wednesday morning, August 17, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock, PA.
Joseph was born in Old Forge, PA on January 6, 1941 the son of the late Joseph and Nellie Statnick Kostantewicz. Growing up in the Tunkhannock area, Tyke graduated from the Tunkhannock High School with the class of 1959.
Tyke was a dairy farmer most of his life owning and operating a dairy farm in South Auburn. Most of his spare time Tyke enjoyed hunting on his farm, and the surrounding South Auburn area. Tyke was a loyal member of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving is his wife the former Delores D. Ball, of South Auburn, PA; and his children, Jerome Kostantewicz, of Center Valley, PA and Lisa and her husband Joe Worth of Loyalsock, PA; also his 5 grandsons, Christopher and Zachary Kostantewicz, of Center Valley, PA; and Joey, Matthew, and Noah Worth of Loyalsock, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his three sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday morning, August 20, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church in Meshoppen, PA, with Fr. Joseph J. Manarchuck of the church officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joachim's Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 SR6, Meshoppen, PA, on Friday evening, August 19, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 PM.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions in Joseph's name to the St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church; Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 245 State St., Wyalusing, PA 18853.
