Joyce G. Wentovich, age 82, , of Wyalusing, PA, the wife of the late Peter Wentovich passed away Thursday January 15, 2015 at the Skilled Nursing Unit at Memorial Hospital in Towanda, PA.

Joyce was born on September 1, 1932. She was adopted as an infant in Rye, NY by Robert and Grace McEwan. The family moved to California until Joyce was in seventh grade then they returned to Rye, NY. Joyce graduated from Rye High School. After graduation she moved to Miami, FL where she worked as a telephone operator. She met her husband, Peter Wentovich, on a blind date and it was love at first sight. Three days later they were married on April 10, 1956. They moved to Simpson, PA where they raised four sons together. She moved to Miami Beach, FL a few years after her husband's death. While at Miami Beach she returned working as a telephone operator.

After retirement Joyce moved to Wyalusing, PA in 1993. She became involved with the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church as a Deacon and a singer in the choir. Joyce had a huge heart and was an incredible giver. She would send special prayer cards and was willing to spend her time with those in need. She was a loving, caring woman who had a love for poetry, shopping, flower plants, and Russian cooking. Joyce was also a faithful and devoted member of the Wyalusing Lioness Club for 18 years. She would collect eye glasses, stamps and donations for the betterment of the club.

Joyce is survived by her four sons Peter and his wife Janet Wentovich of Mayfield, PA; Timothy Wentovich of White's Crossing, PA; Lawrence and his wife Sandra Wentovich of Wyalusing, PA; Jeff Wentovich Sr. and his girlfriend Casey Eaton of Clarks Summit, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Derrick and Brandon of Mayfield, PA; Jennifer and Kimberly of Goldsboro, PA; Jeffrey, Justin, and Amanda of Clarks Summit, PA; brother Robert McEwan of Farmington, NM; cousin Edmund and his wife Louise Reiss of Durham, NC; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Barry Ballard of the church officiating. Interment will follow at the Willow View Cemetery in Clifford, PA. Family and friends may call on the same day as the service at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
