Judy Kay Bauman, age 68, of Meshoppen, PA passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 20, 2023.
She was born on May 3, 1954 in Meshoppen, PA the daughter of the late George Thomas, Sr. (d. May 16, 1988) and Kathleen Ladner Dunbar (d. May 24, 2015). She completed school at Tunkhannock Area High School.
Judy gained employment after high school at the Dress Factory in Meshoppen. She has also been employed with the Clark Summit State Hospital. Judy dedicated herself to working with the Luzerne/Wyoming County Head Start as a family/social worker for 25 years. She took pride in the Christmas program and made sure that every child and family had a Merry Christmas.
She was a member of the St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church where she was highly involved with the RENEW group. Judy spent time on the Meshoppen Borough Council and was a member of the craft group on Russell Hill. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping, selling Avon products, crocheting, gardening, sitting on the porch admiring her flowers and windchimes, going out to eat, and painting beautiful pictures. She took great pride in decorating her house for each holiday or occasion and was especially proud of her Christmas tree decorating. She loved spending time with all of her family and her grand babies held a special place in her heart.
Judy is survived by the love of her life whom she married on December 24, 1985, Michael J. Bauman, Sr.; her children, Jennifer McClain and her husband, Stacey, of Tunkhannock, PA; Michelle Caines and her husband, Victor, of Meshoppen, PA, and Michael Bauman, Jr. and his significant other, Milena Smith; her grandchildren, Joshua McClain (Sara), Jacob McClain (Tanika Flores), Hannah McClain (Dallas Manning), Kelsey Zickler (Steven), Karley Davis (Brian), Annabele Bauman, Emma Smith, and Liam Bauman; her great-grandchildren, Aunali McClain, Hunter and Levi Davis; her siblings, Kathy Volk (Billy) of Auburn Center, PA, Cindy Fredendall (Charlie Randall) of Binghamton, NY, and George Thomas (Mary) of Golden Hill, PA; her brother-in-law, Robert Brostoski (Rose) of Meshoppen, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by great-granddaughter, Paisley Zickler (d. March 28, 2020) and her sisters, Sharon Brostoski (d. February 3, 1999) and Marie Gowin (d. April 3, 2013).
A Mass of Christian Burial for Judy will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at 11:00 AM from the St. Joachim's Roman Catholic Church, Sterling St., Meshoppen, PA with Father Patrick Albert officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Joachim's Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 SR 6, Meshoppen, PA on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 5:00-8:00 PM.
