Kathi was born in Montrose on April 28, 1954 and was raised between Clapper Hill, Beaver Meadows, and Camptown where she developed a lifelong love for animals, especially horses and in particular her favorite mare, April. She adored her father, her brothers and her best friend, Susie, and maintained a unique closeness with her mother, Odessa.
Kathi loved music and taught herself to play guitar. She was infamous for taking care of strays, both animals and people alike. Kathi was a giver, a healer, and a peacemaker who was always concerned about someone other than herself.
Those that knew her best know she was a feared and famous spider hunter, a Coke-float aficionado, a psychology buff, and a master of pranks and humor.
Living most of her life in the Wyoming and Bradford County area she attended WVHS, Mansfield and Penn State Universities ultimately obtaining her degree from Penn State. After working numerous jobs in the area Kathi completed her education as an adult learner. She worked for Bradford County as a S.B.D.C. specialist and eventually the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business as the Director of the Small Business Development Center.
Having relocated out of state, Kathi returned home to assist her daughter with her grandson's special needs. She and Colby held a special bond. Kathi spent her remaining years with Krissy and the boys, nurturing her faith and teaching us all to enjoy the lighter side of life.
Kathi was preceded in death by her father, James Arthur Garris, in 1971 and her mother, Odessa Goolsby-Garris, in 2002. She is survived by her son, Jamie, and his wife, Kelly ann, daughter, Danielle, and her husband, Kevin, and her daughter, Krisalyn. She is also survived by her big brothers, Jim and Brad, and her sister-in-law, Louise, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Colby, Ryan, Madison, Christian, Makayla, Malachi, Potter and Wyatt.
Kathi will be missed dearly and remembered for her faith, her optimism, her grit and incredible determination.
