Kathryn "Kate" Baldwin Wells Douglas, age 96, went to be with her Lord on Sunday morning, November 20, 2016 at her home in Lawton, PA.
She was born February 17, 1920 in LeRaysville, PA the daughter of the late Earl and Frances Goodwin Baldwin. She attended the Rush High School and lived her entire life in the Lawton area.
She married Ronald Wells in 1940. He predeceased her in June, 1948. In 1952, she married Lamont Douglas, who predeceased her in 2007. She was also predeceased by her eldest son, Richard Wells of St. Petersburg, FL in March of 2013.
Her life was her 8 children, 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and her home. She spent her time cooking and baking for her family, and making sure her home was spotless. She was never too busy to babysit whenever she was needed. In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting with her many family members and playing cards with her sisters every Friday evening. At one time, she helped deliver meals on wheels and always volunteered to work at the Lawton carnival, usually in the chicken barbeque tent.
Kate is survived by her four daughters, Phyllis Wells Rhoden and husband Eurie of San Antonio, FL, Donna Wells Bechtel and husband Lee of Vestal, NY, Kathy Douglas Pedersen and husband Gary of Lawton, PA Sharon Douglas Hunsinger and husband Bill of Laceyville, PA; three sons, Dale Wells and wife Vera of St. Joseph, PA, Gary Douglas and wife Cindy of Rushville, PA, Rodney Douglas of Lawton, PA; and a daughter-in-law, Margaret Howeye Wells, St. Petersburg, FL. Three sisters, Eva Wilbur of LeRaysville, PA, Ethel Mae Ruhf of Lawton, PA, and Jean Downer and husband Gary of Montrose, PA; her sister-in-law, Joan Brobst and husband Harold of Johnson City, NY; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her two husbands and parents she was predeceased by three brothers, James Baldwin, Paul Baldwin and Horace Baldwin and one sister, Pauline McGovern.
Funeral services for Kate will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA with Reverend Sharon Rockefeller of the Rushville Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Rushville Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
