Kerry E. Detrick, age 69, of Quick's Bend, PA passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.
Kerry was born on September 9, 1946 in Meshoppen, PA the son of the late Franklin P. (d. 1988) and Viviene L. Hawkey Detrick (d. 2011).
He graduated from Wyalusing High School with the class of 1964. After high school, Kerry began working for Welles Mill in Wyalusing. He was employed as a Fuel Truck Driver before retiring after 33 years.
Kerry was a member of the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church, the Wilmot and Wyalusing Volunteer Fire Departments. He was awarded the Volunteer of the Year in 2014 from the Wyalusing Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Township Supervisor for Wimot Twp. He loved woodworking and even created his own company K & B Woodworking and sold his work at local trade shows and farmers markets. He created the Wishing Well Campground, where he lived, on the family farm. He thoroughly enjoyed managing and maintaining the campground, as well as driving his Kubota side by side around the campground. He also enjoyed attending the Bloomsburg Fair each year to assist some dear friends in their stand.
Kerry is survived by his step-daughter, Amey Johnson and her husband John of Ulster, PA; his siblings, Janet Harned and her husband John of Camptown, PA, Rodney "Keith" Detrick of Quick's Bend, PA and Cheryl Keeney and her husband Jack of Browntown, PA; his mother-in-law, Cora Sutton of Warren Center, PA; his sister-in-law Barbara Williams and her husband Bruce of Warren Center, PA; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife who he married on August 19, 2000, Beverly Carol Sutton Detrick, who passed away July 15, 2014.
A memorial service for Kerry will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 4:00 PM from the Wyalusing Presbyterian Church with Dr. Reverend Barry Ballard of the church officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 2:00 until the time of the service. Interment will take place at a later date at the Quick's Bend Cemetery.
