LaVerne F. Owen, age 69, of Wysox, PA (Rome) formerly of Spring Hill, PA passed away Saturday morning, August 24, 2013 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA after an illness.
He was born on March 24, 1944 in Sayre, PA the son of the late A. Floyd and Nellie Dickinson Owen.
LaVerne worked for Donald Deans and Brunges Pallet Mill both in Montrose, PA for many years.
He enjoyed country and western music. He also loved to spend time with his large family.
He is survived by his special friend Connie Adams of Rome, PA; his sister Linda Voda and her husband Richard of Silvara, PA; his brothers James Owen of Laceyville, PA, Harry Owen of Tunkhannock, PA and Daryle "Woody" Owen and his wife Carol of Silvara, PA; his roommate Perry Norton of Rome, PA; his long time childhood friend Fred Heeman of Spring Hill, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters Helen Proof, Selma Owen, Shirley Owen, and Beverly Sechrist, and his brothers Charles Owen, Harold Owen, Francis Owen, John Owen, and Paul Owen.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA with Rev. Charles Bishop of the Transue Community Church officiating.
