Obituary

Lee E. Bendinsky, age 83, of Wyalusing, PA passed away peacefully on Friday evening, December 8, 2023 with his loving family by his side at the Gatehouse Hospice Unit in Williamsport, PA.

Lee was born on June 16, 1940 in Towanda, PA the son of the late Vincent (d. 2004) and Avis Linnell DeWire Bendinsky (d. 1992).

He was a graduate of Wyalusing High School with the class of 1958.  He also received his Barber Certificate from the Harrisburg Barber School.  He owned and operated the Bendinsky Barber Shop on Main Street in Wylusing for 58 years before retiring in 2017.

Lee attended the Evergreen Christian Church and was on the Wyalusing Town Council.  He was an Eagle Scout, Boy Scout Leader and the first Scout Master of the Laceyville Boy Scout Chapter.  He was a member of the Thompson C Battery which is a Civil War Reenactment Group and a NSSA organization.  He enjoyed leather tooling, wood carving and created many Totem Poles, many of which can been seen throughout the area.  He took great pleasure kayaking, canoeing, racing on the Susquehanna River, fishing and camping.  Most of all he loved to spend time with his family.

Lee is survived by his wife Nancy Christian Bendinsky, whom he married on July 16, 1960; his children, Kim Louise Bendinsky Dieffenbach of Dunn, NC, John Vincent Bendinsky (Brenda Barr) of Dacula, GA, and James Lee Bendinsky (Elaine Griess) of Lititz, PA; his grandchildren, Ronald Mark Dieffenbach, Julianna Joy Bendinsky, Gabriel Isaac Bendinsky, Heather Jean White (Brandon), and Adam Bendinsky (Amanda); his brother, Allen Bendinsky (Sally Cochran) of Moscow, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Ron Dieffenbach (d. 2020).

A Memorial Service will be held for Lee on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the Evergreen Christian Church, 23 Szemple Lane, New Albany, PA with Reverend Michael Dodd of the church officiating.  Family and friends are welcome for a visitation at the church on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.  Interment will take place at a later date at the Lacey Street Cemetery.
