Lloyd D. Woodruff, age 65, of Laceyville, PA, passed away early Wednesday morning, January 9, 2019, at his home on North Flat.

Lloyd was born in Meshoppen, PA, on January 10, 1953, the son of the late Ralph E. Woodruff, who passed away on October 5, 2011, and Martha Lydia Vergason Woodruff, who passed away on July 27, 1999. Growing up in Laceyville, Lloyd was a graduate of the Wyalusing High School with the class of 1971. While in high school, Lloyd was a standout athlete, participating on the football, wrestling and baseball teams, teams that won many league championships during that time.

After his graduation from high school, he enlisted in the US Army, serving his country for many years. After returning to the Laceyville area, Lloyd was employed in the stone business in the Laceyville and Wyalusing area, dealing with blue stone and field stone. For many years he worked at Procter and Gamble Paper Products in Mehoopany, PA, employed by Staff Management. In his early years, Lloyd worked with his father doing construction.

Along with playing softball with many area teams throughout his early years, the past few years in his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his many friends.

Surviving, is his long-time companion, Mary Hall, of Laceyville, PA; his children, Jennifer (Randy) Epler, of New Albany, PA; and Trevor (Melissa) Woodruff, of Dunmore, PA, as well as 3 grandchildren. Lloyd is also survived, by his brothers, Glen Woodruff, of Tunkhannock, PA; Verne Woodruff, of Scranton, PA; Tracy (Beth) Woodruff, of  Wyalusing, PA; and Austin Woodruff, of Laceyville, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his step-mother, Pam Woodruff, of Laceyville, PA, and his extended family of step-children, Randy (Melissa) Hall, of Laceyville, PA; Julie Miller (Coop), of Laceyville, PA; Roy (Alice) Hall, of Tunkhannock, PA; Adam (Jennifer) Hall, of Laceyville, PA, and many step grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip Woodruff (d. May 2008), and Gary Woodruff (d. October 14, 2015).

Memorial services will be held at the Sheldon Funeral Homes, 459 Main St.,  Laceyville, PA, on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Charles Bishop of the Retta Community Church officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 5:00 PM until the time of the service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
