Obituary

Mrs. Lois E. Frantz, age 82, passed away May 8, 2014 at her home on Frantz Road in Meshoppen, Pa.

Lois was born July 22, 1931 in Lemon, Pa and is the eighth child of the late Robert S. (Sept. 4, 1968) and Mary (Fisher) Wilson (Nov. 21, 1989).

She was raised on a farm in Lymanville. She attended Lymanville, Springville and Tunkhannock school where she graduated in 1948.

On, July 22, 1948 she married the late Ivan Laird Frantz (July 12, 1990). Together they operated a dairy farm, raised tomatoes, and enjoyed square dancing. Lois enjoyed playing cards, baking and the company of family and friends. Lois served as Meshoppen Township Tax Collector for 12 years. She was a member of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church, past member of the Order of Eastern Star, Meshoppen Chapter #70, and Loyal Order of the Moose, Tunkhannock charter.

Lois is survived by her daughters Judy (Ron) Oliver, Marjorie (Tom) Walters and a son Jeffrey (Mary) Frantz all of Meshoppen. Grandchildren are Gordon (Michelle) Matusavige of Centermoreland; Gary (Rebecca Pasake) Matusavige of Meshoppen, Sara (Todd) Oliver-Traver of Tunkhannock; Shannon Oliver of Meshoppen, Melisa Ford of Mehoopany, Shawn (Tony) Jagger of Tunkhannock, Jason Walters serving in the USMC, Matt Walters of Meshoppen. Great grandchildren are Gordon Matusavige and Gene Edward Matusavige; brothers Saxon (Thelma) Wilson and Paul (June) Wilson of Tunkhannock as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son Andrew Frantz (May 4, 1973) and grandson Gene Andrew Matusavige (May 1, 1981), brothers, Arthur Wilson, Bruce Wilson, sisters Roberta Taylor, Betty Morris, & Ruth Clatterbuck.

As per her request, there will be no calling hours or services. A private committal service will be held upon cremation at the burial site of her late husband in Carverton Cemetery at a later date.

Arrangements were made through the Sheldon Funeral Home, 8206 SR 6, Meshoppen, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to Caregivers of America Hospice 718 South St., Clarks Summit, Pa. 18411.
