Louis Solis, 84, of Mehoopany, PA, formally of Brentwood, NY, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Tuesday, January 1, 2013.
Born February 5, 1928, in New York City, he was the son of the late Martha Mirailli Solis and Louis Solis. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edith Solis of Mehoopany, PA. He is preceded in death by his son Louis Solis and his great grandson Blake Solis.
He was employed as a lithographer and was a member of the Amalgamated Lithographers of America, Local One until his retirement in 1993. During his retirement, he played a lot of golf, sang with the St. Lukes Choir in Brentwood, NY, and enjoyed watching the NY Yankees and NY Rangers. He was a warm and generous man who loved spending time with his family and friends especially during the holidays. He was highly respected by his coworkers, members of the community and most of all by his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter in law Linda Solis of Los Angeles, CA, son John Solis and his wife Beth of Murfreesboro, TN, daughter Martha White and her husband Greg of Mehoopany, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Louis Solis of Clearwater, FL, Cynthia Arcuri and husband Anthony of Phoenix, AZ, Joanna Solis of Los Angeles, CA, Kim Williamson and her husband Jarod of Raleigh, NC, Trevor Solis of Wilmington, NC, Gregory White and his wife Amber of Fresno, CA, David White of Mehoopany, PA and great grandchildren Justin, Samantha, Anthony, Alyssa, Zachary, Carlos, Gabrielle and Zoe.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Sheldon Funeral Home, Main St., Laceyville, PA with Father Joseph Manarchuk of the St. Mary of the Assumption Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 6:00 PM until the time of the service.
