Obituary

Louise E. (Tewksbury) DeWolfe, age 90, of South Auburn, PA passed away Thursday July 27, 2017.

Louise was born in South Auburn on the Tewksbury Farm April 8, 1927 the eldest daughter of 11 children to the late Eldred P. (d. Jan. 2, 1974) and Elsie A. Love Tewksbury (d. Sept. 16, 1985).

As the oldest daughter, she helped her parents raise her siblings on the farm. She graduated from Laceyville High School with the class of 1945.

Louise married her late husband, Donald, J. DeWolfe June 26, 1948 (d. Jan 10, 2012) in the South Auburn Methodist Church. The couple moved to New Jersey shortly after where she was a housewife, business woman and homemaker for her husband and their two sons. Louise and Don lived in New Jersey until 1990 when they returned back home to South Auburn to be closer to her beloved family.

She was a member of the South Auburn, Skinners Eddy and Vincent United Methodist Churches. She taught Sunday School at Vincent United Methodist Church in Nutley, NJ. She was an 80-year member of the South Auburn Grange #1188. She enjoyed making sleeping bags for those in need. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and tending to her flower garden. She was a very loving and supportive mother who loved to spend time with her family especially with her Grandchildren.

Louise is survived by her sons James DeWolfe of Camillus, NY and Bryan DeWolfe of Kinnelon, NJ; grandchildren Christopher DeWolfe, Ryan DeWolfe, Jennifer Cayea and Jason Cayea; great-grandchildren Isabella DeWolfe, Sophia and Emilia Cheng, Bianca and Jordan Cayea. She is also survived by her siblings Arden Tewksbury, Martha Proof, Loretta Guiton, John Tewksbury (Charlene) and Dianne Lewis (Rick); as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Donald Tewksbury, Frank Tewksbury, Elden Tewksbury, and Dale Tewksbury; and her sister Berneta "Bea" Gardner.

A memorial service for Louise will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM from the South Auburn United Methodist Church with Reverend Dolly Tarreto of the Skinners Eddy United Methodist Church officiating. There will also be a Grange Service conducted by the members of the South Auburn Grange #1188 during the memorial service. Interment will follow at the Jersey Hill Cemetery.
