Obituary
Lucille Collins, age 82 of Sugar Run (Stowell), PA passed away on Thursday morning, April 6, 2017 at the Quadrangle Assisted Living Center in Haverford, PA.
Lucille was born on December 7, 1934 in Stevensville, PA the daughter of the late Ray and Martha Pennay Thomas Shaver.
She was a graduate of the Rush High School with the class of 1953. She also graduated from the Robert Packer School of Nursing with the class of 1956. After completing nursing school Lucille was employed with Tyler Memorial Hospital as a Registered Nurse and later as the Nursing Supervisor until her retirement in December of 1996.
Lucille married the late Walter A. Collins (d. December 23, 2009) on May 19, 1956 and together they had four children. She was a member of the St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, in Wyalusing, PA. She loved her church family and her many friends. Her enjoyments of life were her grandchildren and making batches of cookies for them, as well as crocheting for her many friends and family.
She is survived by her children Francis "Frank" D. Collins of Sugar Run (Stowell), PA, Mark T. Collins of San Francisco, CA, and Beth A. Herbst and her husband James of Paoli, PA; her grandchildren Matthew Heilman of Collegeville, PA and Amelia Herbst Gordon and her husband Justin of Paoli, PA; her siblings Marjean Diebold of Lexington, NC, Connie Barnhart and her husband Glen of Conklin, NY, and Harry Shaver and his wife Kathy of Tunkhannock, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband of 53 years and her parents she was preceded in death by her son Kevin Michael Collins (August 26, 2015) and her brother Ralph Thomas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday morning, April 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church, Route 6, Wyalusing, PA, with Father Joseph J. Manarchuck, officiating.
Interment will be in the St. Anthony's Cemetery in Stowell. Family and friends may call at the Sheldon Funeral Home, 155 Church St., Wyalusing, PA, on Monday evening April 10, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM; and on Tuesday morning, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, prior to the funeral mass. A Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday evening at 7:45 PM.
