M. Jill (Overfield) Hoffman, 61, of Laceyville, passed away on November 25, 2016 at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was the wife of Thomas L. Hoffman, with who she celebrated 30 years of marriage, whom she married on June 21, 1986.

Born in Meshoppen, PA on January 14, 1955. Jill was the daughter of the late Joseph P. Overfield who passed away on August 24, 2002, and Virginia Jennings Overfield who passed away on July 27, 1989, of Shannon Hill (Meshoppen).

She was a graduate of Elk Lake High School with the class of 1972 and East Stroudsburg University with the class of 1976.

Jill retired after 33 years of service at Blue Ridge School District where she held positions as Athletic Director, Phys-Ed Teacher and coached various sports teams. Prior to her time at Blue Ridge, she was a Phys-Ed teacher for Montrose School District. Jill had many special times with her 'lunch buddies' and enjoyed discussing Law and Order: SVU. She was a member of the South Auburn Grange #1188; and past President of the Laceyville Ball Association. She enjoyed her many years at Overfield's Apple Dumplings at the Wyoming County Fair. Jill loved watching both of her daughters participate in athletics and other activities throughout the years, never missing a game or event. Jill touched countless lives of friends, family, colleagues and the youth she mentored in meaningful and memorable ways throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Jill is survived by her loving daughters, Emily L. Hoffman, Harrisburg, PA and Sarah V. Hoffman, Laceyville, PA. Her siblings, Bruce and Anna Overfield, Tunkhannock, PA; V. Carol Bridgman, Bluffton, SC; Scott Overfield, Meshoppen, PA; Andrea Overfield and Barry Moyer, Fleetwood, PA; Lisa and Peter Townsend, Meshoppen, PA; and Jeffrey Overfield, Mesa, AZ., and sister in law, Jane Overfield of Meshoppen, PA. Also additional sister and brother-in-laws, Bonnie & Ken Sodano, Levittown, PA; Barb and Jeff Brunermer, Millsboro, DE. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with her aunts and uncles, Anna Very, of Montrose, PA; Barb Overfield, of Montrose, PA; Shirley and Reid Lowe, of McMurray, PA; and Jean Keys, of Clairton, PA.

She was predeceased by her brothers Richard (Dick) Overfield who passed away on December 27, 2001; and Lawrence (Larry) Overfield who passed away on October 11, 2014.

A Celebration of Jill's Life will be held on her 62nd Birthday on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Rought Hall Post# 510 American Legion, in Black Walnut, PA.
