Malcolm "Mike" F. Corby, age 89, of Meshoppen, PA, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at the Golden Living Center in Scranton, PA.

Mike was born on March 16, 1927 in Tunkhannock, PA the son of the late Floyd and Ruth Terry Corby. He attended the Beaumont High School. He married the former Doris Burgess on June 19, 1948. Mike worked for the Bendix Corporation in South Montrose, PA and he retired from American Asphalt in 1989. He also owned and operated Hydro Chemical. Mike proudly served his country in World War II in the United States Army.

Mike was a member of the Rought Hall American Legion Post #510 and also of the Meshoppen United Methodist Church. Mike helped his boys with Boy Scouts in the Meshoppen Troop. He loved to hunt and camp with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed working with wood but most of all he loved to spend time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Besides his wife of 68 years, Mike is also survived by his children Malcolm "Mike" L. Corby and his wife Tama of Meshoppen, PA; Randy S. Corby of Meshoppen, PA; and Cindy M. White and her husband David of Meshoppen, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Stacey Lorren of Raleigh, NC; Tanya Laber (Eric) of Raleigh, NC; Damon Corby (Lisa) of Raleigh, NC; LeAnn Lawrence (David) of Alabama; Jessica Suttle (Henderson) of Massachusetts; Melissa Riscavage (AJ) of Meshoppen, PA; Amanda Smith (Jesse) of Meshoppen, PA; Theresa Hollett (Lee) of Tunkhannock, PA; 20 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- grandchild; brothers William; Walter; Charles; sisters Ruth; Harriett; Alice; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Mike was preceded in death by his son Chris Corby, who died in 1980; brothers Oscar; Floyd; Archie; sisters Evelyn and Ferne.

Funeral services for Mike will be held on Saturday July 16, 2016, at 11:00 AM from Sheldon Funeral Home, Route 6, Meshoppen, PA with Reverend Jerry Maddox of the Russell Hill United Methodist Church officiating. Interment with Military Graveside Services will be held at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Dallas twp., PA. Military services will be conducted by the members of the Rought Hall Post # 510 American Legion, Black Walnut, PA, Dennis Strong Post # 457 American Legion, Tunkhannock, PA and the Endless Mountains Post # 3583 V.F.W., Mehoopany, PA. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.
