Margaret Celestine Nemec, age 91, of Tunkhannock, PA (formerly of Laceyville and Montrose, PA) passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Regional Hospital of Scranton.

Margaret was born on March 27, 1927 in West Wyoming, PA the daughter of the late William and Josephine Podgorski Heist.  She was a graduate of West Wyoming High School with the class of 1945.

She was a housewife and homemaker for her late husband, George Nemec, Sr. (d. December 30, 1995), and their family.  Margaret was a member of the Laceyville Women's Club and was active in the Jersey Hill Church.  She enjoyed watching western movies, crocheting, watching birds, and cooking.  She loved her family very much.

Margaret is survived by her sons, George Nemec, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Bartow, FL and Robert Nemec and his wife Helena of Laceyville, PA; her daughters, Margaret Greer of Petersburg, VA and Ann Marie Gates of Owego, NY; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her brother, William Heist of West Wyoming, PA; her sister, Elizabeth Douglas of Hollywood, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Naples and Mildred Donovan.

A graveside service for Margaret will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Lacey Street Cemetery, Laceyville, PA with Pastor Dick Camp officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Margaret's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
