Obituary

Marguerite "Peg" H. Cobb, formerly of Colley, PA, passed away on October 16, 2017 at the Wyalusing Personal Care Home, where had been residing for the last three years.

Peg was born on April 1, 1919 in Towanda, PA, the daughter of the late Roy J. Williams and Lila Electa Smith. She attended Shores Hill and Pond Hill (Lake Wesauking) elementary schools and Towanda High School, where she graduated with the Class of 1935.

On March 24, 1935, she married Otto Wiggins and of that union three children were born. During this time she worked as a waitress at the Amber Lantern Restaurant and Boyles Restaurant in Towanda. She was also employed by the Valley Cities Gas Company. During World War II, her husband took her and the family to Cleveland, OH where he worked for the Defense Plant-Cleveland Pneumatic Tool Company and the family resided in Euclid, OH. When her husband was out of work due to a steel strike, she worked at Smith's BBQ. The family later returned to Pennsylvania and Peg worked for Duval & Reuter as their secretary. She administered "Daupes Oath" to Specs O'Keefe, one of the Brink's robbers who was caught by Dean Meredith. While there she did divorce hearings. In May of 1953 she divorced her husband.

On October 10, 1953 Peg was remarried to Robert (Bud) Purl Cobb, who passed away on January 11, 2001, and together they had three children. In 1955, she was elected as the Justice of the Peace in Wyalusing Borough and served two terms. She opted not to continue so she purchased Russell Pratt Agency and the T.H. Sturdevant Agency in 1963. In 1970, she sold the agency to Harold Kilmer but continued to work as an employee until the late 1970's. Afterwards Peg worked for Bill Kintner and managed the Kintner Insurance Agency in Laceyville, PA until her retirement in the 1980's.

Peg was a member of the Hollenback United Methodist Church and served as choir director, the Wyalusing Post #534 American Legion Auxiliary, AARP, and the Wyalusing Senior Citizens. She loved to garden as well as knitting and crocheting. She also enjoyed reading, fishing, and BINGO. But most of all Peg loved her family.

Peg is survived by her children Robert D. Wiggins (Patsy) of Johnson City, TN; Charles David Wiggins (Nancy Parsons) of Sayre, PA; Joanne M. Adams (Burton) of Colley, PA; Robert "Buddy" P. Cobb Jr. (Deborah) of Wyalusing, PA; Terry A. Cobb (Terry L.) of Wyalusing, PA; Ted R. Cobb of Laceyville, PA.
